Merchant discovers women lie!
Have you ever told a porky about having a big lunch or polishing off the last of the treats at home? You’re not alone.
The Merchant PR team carried out a survey on behalf of client Timex to promote its new Health Tracker watch which found that women tell a total of 474 lies a year about food.
The survey of 3,000 people Brits revealed that ‘It was only a small portion’ is the most common lie, followed by ‘I’ve had a big lunch so I won’t eat much later’.
Media coverage spread globally and was achieved in 8 UK print titles including the Daily Mail and Daily Express and on 130 websites worldwide including The Times (India), The Huffington Post UK, MSN, AOL, Yahoo!, Netmums, Glamour US and Cosmopolitan US.
The story was also tweeted over 385 times, was a phone-in topic on ITV’s This Morning and was talked about on at least 7 radio stations in the United States including Z100 which is considered the second largest pop/Top 40 station in the world after BBC Radio 1, pulling in an audience of 5 million daily.
The Timex Health Tracker encourages its users to be honest with themselves about the food they’ve eaten by entering the calories they’ve consumed in a diet diary. The walk sensor automatically records distance, steps taken, calories burned and easily stores calories consumed in a diet diary it also allows the user to create custom fitness goals and track progress to keep motivated.
